I used to love the original Mario Brothers game on our Nintendo. It was one of the only ones I would play. Although my 7-year-old cousin, I am sure, has no idea about the original he wanted a Mario cake for his birthday. His original cake he showed my uncle he wanted was one that had Bowser’s castle sitting on top of a globe. Ok, so I know I am good but really?!? Once we got him to scale down his ideas a little bit I think he got everything he wanted.

This cake was full of details and they all turned out exactly as I wanted. I think this is another reason this cake has turned out to be one of my favorites!

My aunt gave me a few plastic character they had found to put on the cake, other than that I did everything else.

Ryan wanted to make the castle spin, but unfortunately that was a bit of an afterthought and he didn’t have the time to figure it out. But watch out next year Parker, I am sure the big dorky engineer Ryan will figure it out by then!

Happy Birthday wild man, hope you had a great day!

That is exactly what I have been. I didn’t have any cakes for a little while and I have completely slacked on posting the ones that I have done recently. So, here they are ALL in one big post!

This cake might as well be called Death By chocolate! It was a chocolate cake with chocolate icing, then there was the ganache on top with the chocolate swirlies. Add strawberries and this cake= Awesome!

The next cake was one for my Grandma’s birthday. She likes pink and flowers so that’s what I gave her…

It was time for a girls night out, and what better way to celebrate than with a Bachelorette party! Kasey is getting married, in just about 3 weeks now! This was her cake.

Then it was my sister-in-laws birthday. She called and asked me to make her a cake with high heels and wristlets. Those were her only requests. She always leaves everything up to me, well except for that ice cream cake she keeps asking for!

Now I have ONE more cake to share, but I am going to save it for its own post. It was one of my favorites
So, you have that to look forward to!

So, I have been a complete slacker and haven’t update the blog since before the new year. Things got kinda crazy and I just simply forgot! I have made a few cakes lately.
This one was for a bachelorette party. I found that I didn’t take one, not one, really good picture of it. You see, I was working 3 nights in a row and they were calling for snow so I work feverishly to finish this cake in between work nights. I got it done and dropped it off to Stacy at work, but forgot to take pictures….BOO! Can’t cry over spilled milk right!!

On Wednesday night I decided to go on a baking spree. What did I make??? Well I started out baking the cakes I had to decorate on Saturday, then…..
I made cupcakes for Julie’s birthday

Then cookies…..

Then MORE cookies…

Then Brooke came over and showed me how to make bourbon balls….

Any finally, while we were making bourbon balls I also made some homemade carmels, just like my Mammaw used to do!

And there is my baking spree, in a nutshell!

I learned one thing about having three cakes in one weekend (besides being totally exhausted!) The more cakes you make, the less pictures you take. My first cake I took pictures through the entire process. By the time I got to Snoopy, he only got pictures when he was done!

This Snoopy cake was for Taylor, Ryan’s cousin. It was a surprise to her what kind of cake I was making for her. I think she really liked it! It was crooked which just absolutely irritated me, but turned out cute. I think Snoopy was a success!!
